We are here, Gresham, Oregon. We are looking fast. We are ready to race. Ready to pour or hearts and souls into the pool. To show off our hard work. To reap the rewards for our sacrifices over the last eight months. The Northwest Conference Championships begin tomorrow! Here we go.

For those of you that don’t know, the NWC is the conference of universities that Whitworth competes in. It’s made up of Whitworth University, Lewis and Clark College, Linfield College, Pacific University, Pacific Lutheran University, University of Puget Sound, Whitman College, and Willamette University. We swim dual meets head to head against each other throughout the swimming season which runs from October to February, then at the end of that season we all come together and race against each other for the title of Conference Champion and the hope of making the NCAA National qualify times.

The Whitworth Men have won the Conference Champion title 8 years in a row now and we head into tomorrow favorites to take our ninth. It is incredible to have the chance to be part of such an amazing winning streak and you best believe the boys are seriously pumped about keeping this streak alive! The Whitworth Women have won three titles in the last four years and they too are looking to repeat last years performance!

We have a host of swimmers looking to qualify for nationals which will be held in Tennessee at the end of March and I am predicting there will be some great swimming, fast times and fantastic entertainment this weekend! There are obviously a whole load of  very impressive swimmers that will be on show in the pool. Here’s  a couple that I will be keeping my eyes on!

Michael “Woody” Woodward

Say Hey

Mike is up in the 200 IM, 200 Free and 100 Free as well as a load of relays! He’s an All American. He’s a stud and this is his last year at Whitworth. No doubt he will be looking to go out with a BANG!

Kalen “The Pussycat” Darling

After ripping it up on the cross country course earlier this year, the Pussycat is back and ready for action. He too is a senior and will be looking to leave his mark on the Conference and Whitworth Record board. He’s up in the 200 IM, 400 IM and the 200 Backstroke! Meow Pussycat. Meow.

Austin “Race Me” Vierra

Austin came in as a transfer to Whitworth this year from one of the fastest D3 universities in the country. He is on a mission and judging by some of the times this guy has put up in practice over the last couple of months I am expecting big things!

Aaron “Tick Tick BOOM” Vaccaro

Aaron is a freshman this year, but I have to be honest I have never seen a guy with so much explosive power in my whole life. He broke the Whitworth school record in the 100 Fly in December and then again in January this year and I know he is hungry for more!

Don’t get me wrong the rest of the men and woman on this team are also looking ready to absolutely rip it up too, so stay tuned – I will make sure I keep you all up to date on what happens each day! You can also follow Live Results by clicking on the link below!
